    About Me

Hi. I’m Laura Schulz. I received a BA from the UW in 1987, an MA in Mental Health Counseling from City University in 1997, and a PhD in Psychology from Capellla University in 2015. I worked in IT and Project Management for a local airplane builder for 27 years, but started working part-time in counseling on the side in 1997. I made the switch to full-time counseling in 2016.

I’m fascinated by why people do what they do. And I’m no different from you; I struggle with relationships, I get easily overwhelmed with conflict and I sometimes still find myself avoiding it. I feel so fortunate to have worked with such a variety of clients; in their ethnicity, lifestyles, genders, religious and political views. I really believe in “to each his own”. If it works for you, awesome!

I am an avid fictional reader, love crime shows, and love warm weather and getting outside to ride motorcycles, or spend time with family and friends (and their dogs) at the beach.

Clients tell me that my style in counseling is gentle but honest. I let the client direct the session and what they want to talk about. If you have some things you don’t want us to discuss, I honor that. If you tell me you want gentle nudges, I can do that. It’s up to you.

    Sessions are via telehealth only.
